Origins of Darling: Darling is situated within the Groenkloof area that dates back to 1682, when standard bearer Oloff Bergh, pioneer explorer, undertook a journey discovering this valley as an extremely fertile region.
The town was named after Charles Henry Darling who came to the Cape as lieutenant-governor in 1851. Today, Darling has benefited from having fertile soil – offering it’s residents and visitors alike the tranquility of beauty and country-style living. The name itself bears the charm in itself by having branded their local produce under it’s title.
