Dokos (Aperopia)

The island of Dokos is situated in ”the Hydra gulf” and can only be reached by water taxi from Hydra, Ermioni or Spetses.  The small island adjacent to Hydra, is popular amongst hikers and naturasts.  The island has a population of  approximately 18 persons at the 2011 census.

 

Did you know?

It is said that jn 1975 Peter Throckmorton discovered the oldest wreck ever off the coast of Dokos, and is considered to be the oldest underwater ship wreck.  It is dated between +/- 2500 and 2000 BCE.  The cargo site consists of one of the largest collections of Early Helladic II pottery known.
